We are so excited to be able to share an amazing opportunity with you. We are heading to Siem Reap on our Purpose and Philanthropy Field Trip in October 2020. Join us for this culturally immersive journey that will ignite your purpose and passion!
“I was born in Cambodia and came to Australia when I was very little, so Cambodia has a very deep meaning to me. I’ve been to Cambodia multiple times in the past but this ‘Purpose and Philanthropy Field Trip’ is my favourite. This trip has taught me how to be an ethical traveller and that where I spend my money can have a big ripple effect back to the locals and community where it’s needed most. Sally is an amazing guide and host, she is super organised, helpful and very funny. I’ve learnt so much about Human and Hope Association and Cambodia through Sally and I’m so grateful for this experience. I highly recommend this trip to all who love travelling and wants to experience the amazing food and culture of Cambodia.”
At Human and Hope, we believe that local people are the subject matter experts, know the community and culture well, and are there for the long-term. That’s why we don’t support voluntourism. Instead, we are offering a much-better alternative – an ethical trip to the magnificent Siem Reap, Cambodia!
This ethical, inspiring, socially responsible tour and cultural experience will see you form connections with local Khmers who have overcome adversity to move forward with their lives. You will be immersed in the Cambodian culture and learn about the innovative approaches that local NGOs and social enterprises are taking to overcome poverty and social issues.
Your host for the trip will be Sally Hetherington OAM, President of Human and Hope Association Incorporated. Sally has a wealth of knowledge about international development, the Khmer culture and providing an empowering environment for Cambodian staff.
“Taking part in the Purpose and Philanthropy Field Trip was one of the most rewarding, enlightening and memorable experiences I’ve been fortunate enough to have. Sally was an exceptional host/guide and her local knowledge of the area, as well the mutually respectful relationships she has with the Cambodian community, offered me a very rare and unique inside peek into a world I would otherwise not be privy to. ”

“The Purpose & Philanthropy Field Trip to Siem Reap in Cambodia is one of the most cherished and memorable experiences of my life. What I appreciated the most about the trip was getting to see some of Siem Reaps local enterprises, witnessing the talent & skills, seeing what Cambodians can do when they are given the opportunity to shine while your tourist dollar contributes a great deal towards community projects. The Purpose & Philanthropy Field Trip is a once in a lifetime opportunity which is a highly recommended trip especially for people passionate about making a difference & learning about a different culture. “
