Our mission in Australia is to spark an ongoing conversation about the unintended consequences of voluntourism. Our CEO released a book in 2019 titled ‘It’s Not About Me’, which documents her five years living in Cambodia, how she developed Human and Hope Association and the importance of local empowerment. Rabobank hosted a book launch, and the book is being sold online and through the publisher, Elephant House Press.
We appear frequently in the media to discuss this issue and have been featured on ABC Nightlife, ABC Focus, The Daily Telegraph, Good Magazine and the World Nomads podcast to name a few.
Through approaching schools, service clubs and universities, we have been hosted to talk about the importance of local empowerment and what travellers can do to help countries like Cambodia without participating in voluntourism.
Our Purpose and Philanthropy Field Trips to Siem Reap raise funds for Human and Hope Association and awareness about how to be an ethical traveller. We are currently undertaking an extensive media and communications strategy is being developed to leverage our brand and increase our awareness.
